We are all so exhausted. We got a later start today, about 10:15am. I forgot half of our lunch food. We drove about 2.5 hours to County Galway. It is so pretty!! Our first stop was Kylemore Abbey. It is pricey to go into, so we decided to just take some pictures and head down the road to Connemara National Park. We ate lunch and then hiked the Upper Diamond Hill Loop. It was 400m increase in elevation and was hard going up. The views were worth it and a cool wind came in making the downhill walk really fabulous.
We keep wanting to go to Ennis for music, but decided to squeeze in a scenic drive on the Sky Road in Clifden. Amazing views again. We were so tired we decided to skip trying to go out for music and opted for one more scenic loop out to Roundstone. Only the GPS has us go there the wrong side of the loop so it was just a there and back on the same road. It was great landscape and we got to see clouds waterfalling into a valley, but it made us get back after 10pm. The kids warmed up some food we picked up at Aldi and eventually got into bed. I was so, so tired but couldn’t fall asleep for hours. I kept thinking I heard footsteps downstairs and there was a huge moth running into things by the bed headboard. I had hoped for a good night’s rest, but no. I definitely scheduled us too heavily. Oh well.
I did finally find a list of the times there is traditional Irish music in Ennis. That would have been a good find a few days ago, lol.
Beautiful views indeed!!!
