We spent last night at my cousin’s friend’s house. It is located a little bit out of the village. We saw a beautiful night sky, including a very, very bright and red Mars.
Today we walked from my cousin’s house to the Hawkwood College grounds. It is a local newagey-ish college for adults. The local CSA farm is located there. It is a biodynamic farm. Edon and Ezi’s new friend is volunteering there for the next couple of weeks and it was fun to run into him.
The farm has beautiful flowers growing that can be cut for bouquets if you are part of the CSA. Tomatoes, eggplant, peppers, beans, kale, and carrots were some of the veggies they had growing.
We then walked to Star Anise Cafe in downtown Stroud. It is an amazing and vegan-friendly cafe. We next checked out the local bike shop. From there we went to a nearby shop and bought a postcard I needed. At the local post office we mailed postcards to my nieces. It should take about a week for them to arrive.
We headed back to the house and then headed out again. This time we went to Woodchester Park. It is a beautiful valley with a series of lakes running through it. It also has lots of Jacob sheep. There is a really neat and weird gothic revival mansion that was built back in the 1800’s, but never completed. We checked it out and also had a great walk in the woods. Then, we went back to my cousin’s for dinner and bed.
What did you get to eat at the cafe?
ReplyDeleteThis day my cousin got a delicious looking Buddha bowl. This is where we got the vegan fish and chips (look back a few days). We also got a hummus platter. They have so many other vegan and gluten-free items though.
DeleteSounds delicious. Glad your eating so well there
DeleteYes! It is awesome!!
DeleteDid you enjoy bike rides while you were there? I love the flowers, fresh veggies and the castle.
ReplyDeleteWe did rent bikes in Höör in Sweden. It was an easy town to bike around and we enjoyed it. We did look into bike rentals in other places for mountain biking, but it was too much money. We hope to go back to Europe sometime and bring bikes with us.
