Day 13: Dalarna, Sweden- Last day of Spring!

Today the weather was gorgeous. A cold wind picked up later in the day, but the sun was out and warm all day.
We have several busy Maypole days coming up, plus we have to move from Brändgården where we have been staying to the old soldiers house next to Martin’s parents, so we decided to sleep late and hang out around the farmstead. The kids played monkey-in-the-middle and tag all morning. They also took out the Mavic and enjoyed taking videos of the picturesque scenery.
In the afternoon we went for a walk down to the local lake. Along the way we collected wildflowers for the Maypole tomorrow and ripe, wild strawberries to eat. On the way home we passed by a really large anthill, which is the typical size here.
The kids wanted to play cards indoors, but since this is may be our last warm, dry day, I asked the kids to play outside. They sat for a while, and then started whittling with their new knives.
Edon has been listening to Irish music. He is getting excited for the next leg of our journey.
Fortunately, we still have some very Swedish activities planned for the next few day, plus a few more days with our very sweet friends.

    1. The wildflowers are amazing in Sweden! The anthills are huge. I see why the ants are as big as the kids in Elsa Beskow’s Children of the Forest!
