We went back to the old milkmaid village, Ärteråsen, this morning for the annual bringing of the cows to the summer pastures. We made it in time to watch the last calf run, like sprint, up the hill. We found wild strawberries and blueberries growing all around on the ground. The kids helped carry out and set up a large, wood burning stove/tub for heating wash water. Then, they helped roll a bail of hay to a new home in the village. The kids washed dishes outside and then spent the rest of the day sitting in front of the fire playing Farkle, Swedish Monopoly, and other games.
The wild berries look so delicious.
