We walked over to the Historic Gifford House, which is next door to the campground. It was full of things that reminded the boys of Sweden, including wooden butter spreaders and even Swedish dishcloths (the best dishcloths ever). There was also all kinds of delicious food for sale. This was a good thing because we were pretty much out of food and had planned on going to a grocery store, but were informed that there really isn’t a grocery store nearby. The boys bought a small peach pie, 4 loaves of fresh sourdough bread, and a jar of pickles flavored with a habanero.
We spent the rest of the day doing short hikes around the park. They included Panorama Point, Sunset Point Trail, Goosenecks Point, Petroglyph Panel, Hickman Bridge, and Pioneer Register and The Tanks. The landscape was again unique, diverse, and gorgeous.
In the afternoon rain clouds appeared and hung around the rest of the day. Rain began to fall in the late afternoon as we headed away from Pioneer Register to another trail. Instead of going to another trail we drove back to the campsite and hung out in the car while we waited for the rain to pass. It finally abated around 6:15pm. Since the sky was still a little gray we did the Fremont River Trail that was fairly short and began by our campsite. The views from the trail were fabulous and this trail was much less busy than the others we had done earlier. On the way back, rain started again. It stopped by the time we reached the campsite. We had a bread and pickle dinner. We were all pretty cold by this time and started a fire. We considered doing another trail, but the boys were content with marshmallows and a fire.
So much to see and experience. Are the boys taking pictures with their drones?
ReplyDeleteNot really :(
DeleteMost of the places we are visiting are National Parks or near airports and both of those are off limits.
Lucky find that bread and pickles. How do you all like the look of this land? So different from Florida
ReplyDeleteWe love seeing the new places! Everywhere in Utah is so unique!
