We were very warmly received by our friends, even though we smelled like campfire and camping. The Fruita Campground at Capitol Reef was super nice, but didn't have showers.
We had a fun night catching up with our friends, who had moved to Boise from Florida in December. We all went to bed quite late. It was so great to sleep in a comfy bed in a beautiful house after our rainy week of camping.
The next day we walked from our friends' house to the hills adjacent to their neighborhood. We did a 10+ mile hike on the Lucky Peak Trail. Aside from a brief downpour (complete with hail), the hike was fabulous. There were so many flowers in bloom along the trail, the hike was challenging, and the company excellent. It was so amazing that such an extensive and beautiful hiking area was basically in their backyard.
Everyone was pretty tired after the hike, but after showering and eating we decided to go to downtown Boise. The kids got ice cream at The Stil. They actually sell double flights of beer and ice cream at this place, so as one can imagine it was pretty busy. The Stil offered several dairy-free options, so the boys were happy.
There was an anime comic con going on in downtown. It was entertaining to see the costumes as we walked around. There was a great graffiti alley we walked through before heading back to the car. We slept well after a wonderful day.
So awesome you got to see Andrea and family!!!
