Days 11 and 12: Arches National Park and Canyonlands (Needles Side) National Park

We had a long day hiking at Arches National Park. We were able to see so many gorgeous natural features. There are also so many flowers blooming around the park. The boys found an amazing place to rock climb right off of the Devil's Garden Trail.
We did the Devil's Garden Trail, Delicate Arch Trail, Windows Trail, and Double Arch Trail.
We didn't get to bed until quite late. And when we did get in the tent we discovered it had water in it. The weather here has been cold and rainy. We spent a long and uncomfortable night in our tiny car with most of our stuff.
We got up in the morning and I discovered I had blisters on the soles of my feet. Then, we had to go to town to find a better tent. We bought one that will hopefully be waterproof. We came back to the campground and set it up. We put our sleeping gear in the tent in the waterproof car carrier bag, just in case it wasn't actually waterproof.
We made lunch at the campground communal kitchen and checked on the tent, since we had an afternoon storm during lunch. It appears to be working properly!
It was midafternoon by the time we left the campground and headed to Canyonlands National Park. We had a huge day of hiking planned at this park, but by the time we arrived it was late and rain showers kept coming through the area. The trip was a bit of a bust, but we decided it was worth the drive to see the bizarre, varied, and fabulous rock formations at the park. We were able to see some old pictographs, historic implements from settlers, and those amazing rocks. We did the very short, but exciting Roadside Ruin Trail, Cave Spring Trail, and Pothole Point Trail. On the way home we passed by a bunch of petroglyphs at Newspaper Rock Archaeological Site.
